Heart of the Red Valley: Connection and Living Landscapes takes you on a day trip through an otherworldly Andean landscape. Walking among red-tinged mountains, you'll feel the power of the Apus—the guardian spirits of the Andes—and the living energy emanating from the earth. With each step, the silence of the surroundings and the intensity of the color create a sacred atmosphere that invites introspection and connection with Pachamama. More than a hike, it's a spiritual experience that awakens the senses and renews the soul, in one of the most enigmatic and little-explored corners of deep Cusco.
Day 1.- Red Valley Full Day
At the agreed-upon time, we will pick you up from your hotel in Cusco to begin our journey to the southern Andes, where the landscapes begin to speak the language of the Apus. After a two-hour drive, we will arrive in Cusipata, where an Andean buffet breakfast awaits you, featuring local products that will nourish body and soul for the day ahead.
We will continue to the community of Laya (4,630 m above sea level), the starting point of our spiritual journey. Here, you will receive brief instruction on the safe use of the quad bike, your companion on the journey through this ancestral land. Equipped and ready, we will begin the motorized tour along the silent roads of the Red Valley, a sacred place tinged by the minerals of Pachamama, offering a natural palette of intense reds and a unique energy.
For approximately 30 minutes, you will feel the wind and the earth guide you between solitary hills, on a journey that invites inner silence and contemplation. This area, still rarely visited, preserves its mystical essence intact.
Then, we'll leave the vehicles to begin a 30-minute hike to Vinicunca, the famous Rainbow Mountain, a place of power where minerals have painted the earth with natural stripes that seem to emerge from dreams. There, we'll tell you about its geological formation, but also about its spiritual importance to the Andean people. You'll feel as if time stands still amid the colors, the wind, and the imposing presence of the Apus.
After a moment of connection and unforgettable photos, we'll walk back to the point where the quads are waiting for us, and from there, we'll return to Cusipata to enjoy a well-deserved Andean buffet lunch, with a selection of traditional dishes made with local ingredients.
Finally, we'll return to Cusco, concluding a day of reconnection, beauty, and ancestral wisdom. We'll drop you off at Plaza del Regocijo, very close to the Plaza de Armas, with your heart full and your senses awakened after this 14-hour experience among the vibrant landscapes of the southern Andes.
