Cusco the ancient capital of the Incas is a place full of archaeological sites, museums, temples and more. This tour is very different from the classic City Tour of Cusco, because it combines archeology experiences and how they coexist in this ancient land inherited by the Incas and how the establishment of the colonial era changed in it.
This activity can be developed by morning or in the afternoon. This is an excursion for most iconic places in the city and surrounding, declared a "World Heritage Site" by UNESCO, in addition to being the oldest city in South America. We will start our tour at the famous San Pedro Market, where we will explore the different sections, getting to know the aromas of vegetables, tasting the freshly baked breads and negotiating the purchase of some handicrafts.
We continue to the Temple of Qoricancha, an ancient Inca palace and center of worship to their deities, in the place the Dominics order built a church that remains standing until today (Santo Domingo).
Later we move to the Sacsayhuamán Fortress, an imposing sample of Inca architecture. With the help of our tour guide we will get to know the different places and concepts of this impressive place. Next to Sacsayhuamán is Qenko, an Inca structure, which could be a ritualistic place or perhaps a tomb with the characteristics of a mausoleum. We finish our tour in the iconic Cathedral of Cusco, with a lot of information from the colonial time.
