Experiential Peru Itinerary – 14 Days

Day 1: International Flight – Lima
Start of our services / Arrival in Lima

Arrival in Lima, reception at the airport and transfer to your hotel in Miraflores (Approximate duration: 45 minutes).

Day 2: Lima – Arequipa
09:00 am, visit to the Historic Center of Lima: Plaza San Martin, Jirón de la Unión, Plaza de Armas where the Presidential Palace, Cathedral, and San Francisco are located. In the afternoon, we head by private transport to the airport for the flight Lima–Arequipa. Arrival in Arequipa, reception, and transfer to the hotel.

Day 3: Arequipa – Salinas and Aguada Blanca – Pampa Cañahuas – Coporaque
07:00 am, breakfast at the hotel. Departure with our guide and private transport toward the Colca Canyon, passing through the Salinas and Aguada Blanca National Reserve, a natural reserve of vicuñas and other Andean camelids. We continue the journey through the area of Pampa Cañahuas, with a stop at Patapampa, a town located at 4,900 meters above sea level. Arrival in Chivay and visit to the local market, then transfer to the town of Coporaque. Warm welcome by the host family, we settle in and have lunch. Later, we enjoy activities and walks around the town, with the option of a bath in the hot springs. The day ends with dinner with the family and rest.

Day 4: Coporaque – Colca Canyon – Chivay – Llachón
08:00 am, breakfast and farewell with the host family, then we head to the Cruz del Cóndor viewpoint, where we can observe the flight of condors and the depth of the Colca Canyon. Then, we continue to Chivay passing by the Antahuilque lookout towers, the pre-Inca cemetery with the hanging tombs of Choquetico, as well as the traditional villages of Maca and Yanque. We arrive in Chivay where you may have lunch (not included). After lunch, we head by private transport to Llachón (3,825 m.a.s.l.), where the host family awaits us for accommodation and dinner. (Meeting with the guide in Juliaca)

Day 5: Llachón – Taquile – Puno
08:00 am breakfast, then we share the daily life of the inhabitants of the peninsula and participate in various activities such as fishing and other tasks that allow you to discover a way of life very different from the rest. Then, we sail to Taquile Island, a privileged place due to its archaeological remains, places of worship, festivals, and rituals. Lunch in Taquile. At the end of the afternoon, we head to Puno.

Day 6: Puno – Cusco
After breakfast at the hotel, at 07:00 am we head by private transport to Cusco. Stop at the majestic Pukara Museum, showcasing a culture that developed around Lake Titicaca around 1400 B.C. Brief stop at La Raya (border between Cusco and Puno at 4,335 m.a.s.l.). Arrival in Sicuani, where we meet our private guide and have lunch. Some visits are planned along the way: Raqchi and the Church of Andahuaylillas, known as the Sistine Chapel of Latin America. Arrival in Cusco at the end of the day.

Day 7: Cusco – Huayopata
08:00 am After breakfast at the hotel, we depart by private transport to Huayopata, passing through the Malaga pass (4,330 m.a.s.l.) midway, then we descend to the village, where Julia’s family awaits us to share a delicious lunch. In the afternoon, we visit the various crops produced by Julia and her husband José depending on the season. We also discover the coffee-making process: harvesting, selection, roasting, and grinding. Finally, we enjoy a good cup of coffee. Free time, then dinner with the family.

Day 8: Huayopata – Cocalmayo – Hydroelectric – Aguas Calientes
08:00 am After breakfast, we continue with our transport to Cocalmayo where we find the excellent hot springs (Optional bath highly recommended). We continue the route to the Hydroelectric Station of Machu Picchu, at kilometer 122 of the railway. We have lunch there, and from there board the train to Aguas Calientes (30 minutes).
The journey can also be done on foot (3-hour hike – approx. 10 KM).
Arrival in Aguas Calientes and hotel check-in.

Day 9: Aguas Calientes – Ollantaytambo – Patakancha
05:30 am, after breakfast at the hotel, bus ascent to the archaeological site of Machu Picchu. Guided tour to understand what this mysterious citadel was like during the Inca era. After the visit, free time to explore the site on your own. Descent to Aguas Calientes, then continue by train to Ollantaytambo, where Juan will be waiting with a vehicle to take you to the community of Patakancha. Reception by the host family (Approximate duration: 50 minutes).

Day 10: Patakancha – Ollantaytambo
07:30 am Traditional breakfast and a very pleasant time with the host family, participating in their daily activities according to the season, with the chance to learn about handicrafts, agriculture, or even take a walk. On the program is the preparation of Pachamanca, a Peruvian specialty consisting of cooking food underground with hot stones. Help with preparation and then enjoy this delicious meal.
In the afternoon, the driver and guide take you back to Ollantaytambo.

Day 11: Ollantaytambo – Maras – Moray – Chinchero – Cusco
08:30 am The day begins with a visit to the archaeological site of Ollantaytambo. The morning is ideal as tourist traffic is still low. We continue toward the salt mines of Maras, an open-air salt exploitation site located at over 3,000 m.a.s.l., where the family of Mrs. Timotea awaits us for lunch. After this visit, we go to the archaeological center of Moray, a unique site believed to have served for agricultural research during Inca times. We continue toward the town of Chinchero, known for its textile centers that preserve the traditions and history of their ancestors. We arrive in Cusco at the end of the afternoon.

Day 12: Cusco – 4 Ruins – Pisaq – Cusco
08:30 am After breakfast, we begin the journey to Pisaq, located on the outskirts of Cusco. We explore the archaeological site and its artisan market, then have lunch before continuing with visits to Tambomachay, a site dedicated to the water deity. Visit the sites of Puka Pukara, Q’enqo, and Sacsayhuamán, an impressive megalithic stone structure that was once the main temple of Hanan Qosqo. Free time for the rest of the day.

Day 13: Cusco
08:30 am We begin a walking tour through the ancient streets of the Imperial City of Cusco, visiting the San Blas neighborhood, passing by the Twelve-Angled Stone, and the Plaza de Armas, which has witnessed many historical events. The main feature of this square is the Cathedral, which we will visit in detail. We continue to the Qorikancha, the ancient Temple of the Sun, which was occupied and transformed by the Dominicans upon the arrival of the Spanish.
If time permits, visit the beautiful San Pedro market. Free time after the visits.

Day 14: Cusco – Lima – International Flight Connection
After breakfast, depending on your domestic flight schedule, transfer to Velasco Astete Airport in Cusco and boarding for the flight to Lima.
Arrival in Lima and connection with the international flight.
